Level: Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased
Previous experience necessary - You should have experience of coastal and offshore sailing and a knowledge of all the subjects covered in the Yachtmaster Offshore shorebased course.
The course covers astro navigation and world wide meteorology. Use of the Sextant, Blue water passage planning and electronic navigation.
For those sailors who have attained their Yachtmaster offshore Certificate who want to gain the knowledge of the Yachtmaster Ocean before attempting their first Ocean passage.

The Next Step: RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean qualifying passage. You will need hold the Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate and Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased Course Completion Certificate if you want to take the RYA exam. You can take a written exam in lieu of the shorebased course completion certificate.
