Level: RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore prep-week & mileage weeks

The Yachtmaster Offshore is an experienced yachtsperson, competent to skipper a cruising yacht on any passage during which the yacht is no more than 150 miles from harbour. Candidates wishing to take the RYA/MCA practical examination must have gained the minimum sea time. You will need to have attained the following critieia:-

50 days onboard, 2,500 miles, 5 days as skipper, 5 passages over 60 miles, including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper. Examination candidates should hold either a VHF Radio Operator’s Certificate or a Short Range Certificate and a First Aid Certificate.

The course starts with 5 days preparation concluding with the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore examination. The preparation week is designed to give you the opportunity to thoroughly revise practical and theoretical subjects, such as man overboard recovery, close quarters handling and blind pilotage, etc. The instructor will tailor the course to your needs. However, we advise that you arrive for this course with a through knowledge of subject that would be covered in the theory course such as the collision regulations, lights, shapes and signals. Instructor/student ratio 1:4 maximum.
