Run by Bob and Carole Beggs the Sailing School, now in it's 18th year, is based at Torpoint in Cornwall, on the edge of the River Tamar.
Undoubtedly one of the world’s best cruising grounds, while the Plymouth Sound offers shelter, ideal for beginners, then the beautiful coastline of Devon and Cornwall, with its many Harbours, Ports and Rivers are what makes these waters so enjoyable to learn or improve your sailing. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned sailor, we are here to help and offer advise.
Bob the director and Chief Instructor of the school is a RYA/MCA Commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Ocean instructor and examiner. He has many years of sailing and racing experience with over 340,000 miles under his belt. He is undoubtedly one of the most experienced instructors in the country.
Bobs latest sailing experience was to compete in the 2016 Clipper Ventures Around the World Yacht Race as Skipper of yacht Qingdao; finishing in a respectable 5th place. This was second time around for Bob having won the race in 2001.
Carole also a seasoned sailor, is Principle of the school and runs the office. Carole has been involved in the marine industry for over twenty-seven years and has a wealth of experience.
We offer a range of sailing courses as a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised teaching establishment, however we are always happy to accommodate bespoke and own boat tuition.
