Based in Plymouth at the Mayflower
International Marina. Performance Yachting was established in June 1998 by
Robert and Carole
Beggs, accomplished sailors having both successfully raced
in the Europe 1 Single-handed Transatlantic Race.
And more recently the Two-handed Round Britain and Ireland Race- also the
couples honeymoon! From their shared interest in ocean & long distant
racing, they have focused their energies into
creating a friendly professional maritime company.
We offer an extensive range of sailing activities and courses, as a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognised teaching establishment.
Sailing out of Plymouth Sound, our immediate training ground, offers an
ideal learning environment of sheltered water and four main tributary rivers
navigable deep into
the Cornish countryside. We have the advantage
that we can keep sailing within the Sound
when weather conditions make it unsuitable to
sail outside the breakwater.
About Performance Yachting
Robert Beggs (Bob) is the director
and principle of the sailing school. An RYA/MCA commercially endorsed Yachtmaster
Ocean instructor/examiner, and winning
skipper of the Times Clipper 2000 Round the World Yacht Race. He has
many years of sailing and racing experience with over 150,000
miles under his belt. He is undoubtedly one of the most experienced instructors
in the country.
Carole Beggs has been actively
involved in sailing for over twenty-five years and in the marine industry
for over twenty of those years.
Carole is joint Director of Performance Yachting along with Bob, she runs
the office along side the Performance Yachting Chandlery and Store on site
at the Mayflower Marina

Beyond the Plymouth Sound is the beautiful
coastline of Devon and Cornwall, with its many harbours and ports.There are
so many destinations,
it's what makes cruising these waters so enjoyable. It's undoubtedly one of
the worlds best sailing grounds.
